Welder

Job Description:

The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication, welding, repair, and rebuilding of trash containers, self-contained compactors, and related waste handling equipment. This role requires strong MIG welding skills, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity in a manufacturing or rebuild environment.

Hourly rate: $25.38 - $28.00 (Based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and weld steel trash containers, compactors, and waste handling equipment according to blueprints, specifications, and work orders
• Perform MIG welding on carbon steel of varying thicknesses, producing structurally sound and consistent welds
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and welding symbols
• Fit, tack, weld, and finish container components, including sides, floors, doors, lids, hinges, rails, and reinforcements
• Disassemble, rebuild, and repair self-contained compactors, including structural steel components, hoppers, charge boxes, floors, and door assemblies
• Cut out damaged or worn material and fabricate replacement sections to original or improved specifications
• Perform welding repairs in high-wear and high-stress areas to restore structural integrity and extend equipment life
• Assist with reassembly, alignment, and fitment of rebuilt components to ensure proper operation
• Inspect completed welds and assemblies to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with company standards
• Operate cutting equipment such as torches, plasma cutters, and grinders to prepare materials
• Safely operate shop equipment, including welders, forklifts, cranes, and hand tools
• Repair or rework welds as required to meet quality expectations
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Meet production and rebuild schedules while maintaining high workmanship standards
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress, quality concerns, or material needs
   

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience welding trash containers or waste handling equipment
• Experience rebuilding or repairing self-contained compactors
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
