Job Description - Welder

Boiler Tube Company of America (BTA) is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. As a trusted partner in delivering fast, precise, and cost-effective boiler pressure part replacements, we pride ourselves on getting boiler systems back online quickly, without the delays often associated with overseas sourcing or long fabrication timelines. With over 100 years of expertise and a commitment to maintaining a Buy American approach, our ASME-certified fabrication shop in Lyman, SC, along with our specialty tubing shop in Wellford, SC, equips us to handle a wide range of boiler types and meet the needs of our clients efficiently. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting key components such as tube replacements, headers, waterwalls, superheaters, reheaters, economizers, and more while working in a dynamic environment focused on quality and innovation. Responsibilities

  • Perform welding tasks on boiler pressure parts and auxiliary components using various welding techniques.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards during all welding operations.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control checks on welds to ensure proper adherence to specifications and standards.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving welding-related issues that may arise during the fabrication process.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding preferred.
  • Proven experience in welding, particularly with steel and other metals used in boiler construction.
  • Familiarity with ASME codes and standards related to welding and fabrication.
  • Ability to read and understand technical documents, including blueprints and schematics.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
