Wireless Assessment Technical Advisor

WSP USA is seeking a Part-Time, As-Needed Wireless Assessment Technical Advisor in Philadelphia, PA

Provide technical and project support for the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) Wireless Assessment pursuit and potential project execution. The role will assist with reviewing existing airport wireless infrastructure, supporting development of assessment methodologies, evaluating wireless technologies and coverage requirements, and providing subject matter expertise related to airport communications systems, Wi-Fi, cellular/DAS, CBRS, RF spectrum analysis, and wireless network assessments. Responsibilities include supporting proposal development activities, coordinating with internal teams and specialty subconsultants, reviewing technical documentation and deliverables, participating in stakeholder discussions, and advising on field assessment planning, heat mapping, inventory validation, and future-state wireless infrastructure recommendations. This position will serve as a technical resource leveraging airport and wireless systems knowledge to help develop a comprehensive, client-focused assessment approach for PHL.

Your Impact

• Provide technical guidance for airport wireless infrastructure assessments.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and technical approach preparation.
• Review wireless network, DAS, cellular, CBRS, and RF-related documentation.
• Assist with assessment planning, inventory validation, and coverage evaluation methodologies.
• Coordinate with internal subject matter experts and specialty subconsultants.
• Participate in client and stakeholder meetings as needed.
• Review technical deliverables and provide quality-focused recommendations.
• Support development of findings, recommendations, and final assessment reports.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Aviation Systems, or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of professional experience in wireless communications, network infrastructure, telecommunications systems, or airport technology environments.
• Demonstrated experience assessing, planning, designing, implementing, or supporting wireless infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), cellular networks, CBRS, and RF communications systems.
• Experience performing wireless coverage assessments, RF surveys, heat mapping, spectrum analysis, and infrastructure evaluations.
• Working knowledge of airport communications systems, aviation technology environments, and operational considerations associated with commercial airport facilities.
• Experience reviewing technical documentation, network architecture diagrams, equipment inventories, and telecommunications infrastructure records.
• Ability to evaluate current-state infrastructure and develop practical recommendations for future-state wireless technologies and network improvements.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering, technology, and operations teams.
• Strong technical writing, documentation review, and report development skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills, including experience participating in client and stakeholder meetings.
• Ability to work independently and provide technical leadership in an advisory capacity.
• Proven ability to manage multiple assignments and deliver high-quality work within established schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting wireless assessments, communications master planning, or technology infrastructure projects at commercial airports.
• Professional certifications such as CWNA, CWDP, CWSP, CCNP Wireless, CCIE Wireless, Ekahau Certified Survey Engineer (ECSE), iBwave Certification, or similar wireless communications credentials.
• Experience with wireless assessment and design tools such as Ekahau, AirMagnet, iBwave, Hamina, or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with FAA requirements, airport operational environments, security considerations, and aviation technology standards.
• Experience with Public Safety DAS, FirstNet, private LTE/5G, and CBRS deployments.
• Knowledge of structured cabling, network switching, fiber optic infrastructure, and supporting telecommunications systems.
• Experience supporting technology assessments, due diligence efforts, capital planning initiatives, or enterprise network modernization programs.
• Master's Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $134,800 - $230,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
