Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services
The Los Angeles Unified School District seeks an outstanding Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services (APSCS) to collaborate with the principal to lead the students, staff, and community at Woodrow Wilson High School towards building paths to graduation, academic excellence, and success beyond secondary school.
Woodrow Wilson High School is a comprehensive, single track high school in Northeast Los Angeles, serving approximately 1,200 students in grades 9th - 12th. The student population consist of 93% Hispanic students, 23% gifted and talented students, 22% students with disabilities, and 4% emergent bilingual students. Wilson High School operates on an eight period bell schedule and offers a variety of academic pathways, including three Magnet programs (Police Magnet, Firefighter/EMS Magnet, and Administrative Law Magnet) and a robust International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The school is also an AVID National Demonstration Site, demonstrating its commitment to preparing all students for college, career and life. will possess experience in developing and managing the Master Schedule, student programming, constructing cohorts to support Career Technical Education (CTE) Pathways, standards-based instruction, parent engagement, and differentiated professional development. The candidate must be data-driven, results-oriented and have a track record of proven results; have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; possess the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with instructional leaders, staff, students and families; have the skill to work with complex structures within the school to service the needs of all students; and have experience with school operations, including safety procedures and testing programs is highly desirable. This position also requires frequent travel between the main campus and satellite location and involves a significant amount of walking throughout the school day.
