Job Description - Wrecker Body Assembly / Service Technician



 WATERS has been a family-owned business for over 80 years (currently in its 4th generation), opening our doors in 1938. We are a dealer for International Trucks and IC School Buses (Prestige Certified), Collins Buses, Maintainer Service Trucks/Bodies, Jerr-Dan Wreckers/Carriers, Idealease Truck Rental/Leasing, several different Trailer Lines, and all the parts and services that go with them.  We also have several contracts for plant and facilities maintenance.

 

WATERS has 8 locations around Mississippi and as we continue to go, we're looking to add dedicated team members to become a part of our family!

 

This position is responsible for assembling, repairing, and maintaining industrial trucks / wreckers and their associated bodies according to dealership and factory specifications.

  • Performs work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.



  • Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.



  • Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.



  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer



  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.



  • Communicates with service advisor/ dispatcher immediately if additional work is needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time



  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order



  • Road tests vehicles when required.



  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.



QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience assembling bodies on trucks/vehicles a plus


  • Technical school degree OR six months to one year related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience preferred



  • Must have good knowledge of basic hand tools



  • Must have general knowledge of Light / Medium duty trucks



  • Must have the ability to read a tape measure accurately



  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs frequently
