Job Description - X-Ray Equipment Installation Specialist


The Installation Engineer is responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting medical imaging equipment across the Southeast. This role plays a critical part in ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient installations while delivering an exceptional customer experience aligned with CMS Imaging’s mission and core values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install medical imaging equipment, including delivery, staging, assembly, cabling, and system placement.
  • Assist Service Engineers with equipment alignments, calibrations, and final system verification.
  • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) when not assigned to installation projects.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow all OSHA, DHEC Radiation Safety, and CMS Imaging safety protocols.
  • Maintain personal and company-issued tools and ensure all required installation materials are available prior to each job.
  • Maintain validated credentialing status with Reptrax, VCS (SYMPLR), Vendormate, and other credentialing systems as required.
  • Support the Installation and Service teams by researching parts, identifying part numbers, and providing information to the Service Dispatcher.
  • Complete all required documentation, including service reports, expense reports, installation checklists, and related forms.
  • Uphold professional appearance, communication, and customer-service standards during all site visits.
  • Participate in drug screening, annual motor vehicle record reviews, and maintain DOT certification and driver logbook for interstate travel.
  • Safely lift up to 50 lbs. as needed for equipment handling.  

 

Operational & Process Responsibilities

  • Support the development and improvement of installation processes, asset management systems, and service operations.
  • Contribute to customer onboarding processes for new and renewed service contracts.
  • Assist in the analysis of RMA returns, expenses, customer satisfaction metrics, and dispatch performance.
  • Apply Total Quality Management (TQM) principles to continuously improve installation and service operations.

Requirements

 

Required Qualifications

  • AS in Electronics or Military Equivalent; minimum 2 years of technical training in electronics preferred.
  •  Strong mechanical aptitude, including the ability to assemble, align, mount, and secure mechanical components, use hand and power tools safely, and interpret mechanical drawings or installation diagrams. 
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to drive a lift-gate truck and maintain DOT certification.
  • Ability to pass criminal background verification.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and meet all physical requirements of the role.  
  • The preferred location is between Columbia, Charleston and Florence, SC

  • Strong understanding of electronics, circuit boards, processors, and computer hardware/software.
  • Knowledge of medical imaging equipment installation and service principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and written instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Active listening and customer-service orientation.
  • Logical reasoning and problem-solving skills, including evaluating options and implementing solutions.
  • Ability to identify issues, assess performance, and take corrective action.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong teamwork and collaboration.
  • Creativity and adaptability in solving technical challenges.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work safely in clinical environments.
