Job Description - Yard Hostler

Trailer Positioning: Maneuver and spot 53-foot trailers at specific dock doors, loading zones, and staging areas to support warehouse deliveries.

Yard Management: Keep the yard organized and clear of congestion to prevent dock bottlenecks.

Equipment Inspections: Conduct pre- and post-trip safety checks on yard tractors, checking fluids, lights, and brakes daily.

Documentation: Track trailer movements and container numbers using yard/trailer management systems and communicate status updates to warehouse staff.

Safety Compliance: Secure, seal, and unhook trailers while strictly adhering to safety codes and local traffic regulations within the private facility. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
