Yard / Warehouse Associate

Summary: The essential responsibilities of the Yard Associate include receiving, labeling and storing incoming shipments, maintaining accurate inventory counts and ensuring proper shipment of goods. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Loading and unloading shipments from delivery trucks and transporting merchandise or construction material into the yard and store.  

2. Operating hand trucks or forklifts for loading and unloading packages. 

3. Ensure materials are securely loaded and properly balanced on trucks prior to a driver’s route delivery. 

4. Manually lift and move materials weighing 50 lbs. or more on a regular basis.  

5. Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.

6. Dispose of trash and maintain the cleanliness of the yard, keeping high traffic areas free of debris and equipment.  

7. Assist customers with loading purchases into their vehicles.  

8. Perform and document routine inventory counts and submit inventory levels to the Sales Manager when requested. 

9. Complete other tasks as needed when directed by the Warehouse Supervisor.

Work Environment:

This job operates in a Warehouse and Retail environment. Ability to use computers and other communication systems to perform job functions.  Employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, wet and / or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. 

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform repetitive hand and arm motions. The Employee is required to stand 100% of the time, handle or feel merchandise, reach with hands / arms, talk and hear. The employee will frequently walk short distances, stoop, kneel, crouch, and bend. The employee must occasionally lift, push or pull products and supplies up to 50-100 pounds. 

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time, on-site position. Scheduled hours will generally be 20-29 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Specific workdays and hours may vary based on business needs.

Travel: 

This position does not require travel.

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

1. High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

2. Warehouse experience preferred but not required.
