Youth Development Professional: Member Support Aide

As a Youth Development Professional: Member Support Aide, you'll provide individualized support to members who benefit from additional academic, behavioral, developmental, or social-emotional guidance. Working alongside our Youth Development Professionals and Club leadership, you'll help members build confidence, develop positive relationships, overcome challenges, and fully participate in the exciting programs and experiences the Club has to offer.

This role is perfect for someone who is patient, compassionate, adaptable, and passionate about creating an inclusive environment where every member feels safe, supported, and successful.

This is a part-time position that offers meaningful, hands-on work supporting youth during out-of-school hours. Most team members in this position work between 15–25 hours per week, with schedules varying based on member needs, program enrollment, and organizational priorities. Candidates should be flexible and available to meet the changing needs of the Club throughout the school year. . 

What You'll Do

• Build meaningful, trusting relationships with members while serving as a positive role model and mentor. 
• Provide one-on-one and small-group support for members who require additional academic, behavioral, developmental, or social-emotional assistance. 
• Implement individualized support strategies, behavior plans, and accommodations in collaboration with Club leadership and school partners. 
• Use trauma-informed practices, positive behavior supports (PBIS), restorative practices, and de-escalation techniques to help members succeed. 
• Help members develop emotional regulation, communication, self-advocacy, problem-solving, and social skills. 
• Encourage full participation in Club activities by adapting support to meet each member's individual needs. 
• Assist with planning and facilitating engaging, age-appropriate programs alongside Youth Development Professionals. 
• Observe, document, and communicate member progress, successes, and concerns while maintaining confidentiality. 
• Collaborate with families, school personnel, and Club staff to provide consistent support for members. 
• Supervise members during Club activities, recreation, meals, field trips, and special events to ensure a safe and inclusive environment. 
• Assist with personal care, mobility, feeding, or hygiene needs when required, trained, and authorized. 
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming Club environment. 
• Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

 We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Is 18 years of age or older. 
• Has a High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Psychology, Education, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Special Education, or a related field is strongly preferred. 
• Has at least two years of professional experience working with school-age youth, including experience supporting children with behavioral, developmental, emotional, or learning needs. 
• Has demonstrated experience supporting youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, emotional or behavioral challenges, or other specialized support needs. 
• Has experience implementing individualized behavior support plans, accommodations, and intervention strategies. 
• Is knowledgeable in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), trauma-informed care, restorative practices, and evidence-based behavior management techniques. 
• Can recognize early signs of behavioral escalation and confidently implement proactive intervention and de-escalation strategies. 
• Builds trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries and high expectations for youth. 
• Demonstrates exceptional patience, empathy, sound judgment, and emotional resilience when supporting members with complex needs. 
• Communicates effectively and collaborates with families, school personnel, Club leadership, and multidisciplinary teams. 
• Is organized, dependable, and able to maintain accurate documentation while protecting confidentiality. 
• Is comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, and web-based documentation systems. 
• Can remain active throughout the workday, including standing, walking, bending, lifting program materials, and actively supervising youth indoors and outdoors. 
• Meets all Boys & Girls Clubs of Mid Central Coast and school district employment requirements, including background clearances and required certifications. 

Preferred Certifications & Specialized Training

Ideal candidates will already possess one or more of the following:

• Training or certification in Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) 
• Training in Trauma-Informed Care 
• Certification or formal training in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Pro-ACT, Safety-Care, or a comparable de-escalation program 
• Training in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and inclusive practices 
• Experience supporting youth with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and/or 504 Plans 
• Current CPR/First Aid certification 
• Current Mandated Reporter certification 
• Bilingual English/Spanish is highly desirable
