Job Description - Youth Residential Treatment Program Nurse (RN)

Shift Details: Full time - 40 hours/week


Schedule: Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:00pm (may vary)


Compensation: $75,000-$85,000 annual salary


Location: Avanti - 10300 Flanders St NE, Blaine, MN 55449


About the job: 


The Program Nurse provides trauma-informed nursing services for youth in a residential treatment program. Responsible for health assessments, medication management, emergency response, care coordination, family communication, treatment team participation, staff training, and participation in the on-call nursing rotation. 


Essentials: 


Clinical Assessment & Care Coordination



  • Conduct admission health assessments and review medical histories

  • Coordinate medical, psychiatric, dental and specialty services.

  • Develop and monitor nursing care plans.

  • Maintain accurate health documentation and records.


Medication Management



  • Oversee medication management and compliance.

  • Monitor effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions.

  • Coordinate with psychiatrists, prescribers, and pharmacies.


Trauma-Informed & Person-Centered Care



  • Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented care.

  • Promote resident dignity, empowerment, choice, and safety while supporting healthy coping skills and wellness practices.


Treatment Team Participation



  • Participate in treatment planning, case consultation, and discharge planning.

  • Provide nursing recommendations related to medical and psychiatric needs.


Staff Training & Clinical Leadership



  • Provide education regarding medications, health procedures, CPR, and first aid.

  • Support medication administration competency.

  • Participate in quality improvement and regulatory compliance reviews.


Emergency Response & Resident Safety



  • Serve as primary nursing resource during medical emergencies.

  • Coordinate communication with hospitals and emergency responders.

  • Complete incident reports and required follow-up documentation.

  • Provide support during times of resident distress within the milieu as needed


Other



  • Participate in rotating on-call nursing schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to provide telephone consultation regarding injuries, illnesses, medications, and health concerns. Responding in-person when clinically necessary and authorized.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:



  • Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Minnesota  

  • Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience.  

  • Experience in working with youth who experience mental health difficulties preferred. 

  • Ability to pass required background checks.
