Job Qualifications
- Must be 14 or 15 years of age
- Must possess a valid Virginia Employment Certificate prior to your first day of work (see below)
- Ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week during non-school weeks
Virginia Work Permit Requirement
All 14 and 15 year old workers in Virginia are required to obtain an Employment Certificate before beginning work.

Hours You Can Work (Virginia Law)
Virginia law sets the following limits for 14 and 15 year old workers:
- No more than 3 hours on a school day
- No more than 18 hours during a school week
- No more than 8 hours on a non-school day
- No more than 40 hours during a non-school week
- No work before 7:00 a.m. or after 7:00 p.m. (except June 1 through Labor Day, when work may extend until 9:00 p.m.)
- No work during school hours unless enrolled in a school work-training program
- A 30-minute rest or meal break is required after every 5 consecutive hours of work

What You'll Do
As a Cashier, you are the first smiling face our fans see. You'll be responsible for:
- Warmly greeting fans as they enter and thanking them as they leave
- Taking and accurately entering orders into our point-of-sale system
- Accepting payments and handling cash and receipts
- Keeping the dining room, counters, and guest areas clean and welcoming
- Staying current on promotions and helping fans navigate our menu
- Making delicious DQ treats
- Enthusiastically representing the Dairy Queen brand
Capabilities Required
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk continuously during a shift
- Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, or crouch
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly through speech, reading, and writing
- Comfort working in an environment with hot and cold temperature variations and exposure to food allergens
