Civil Engineer Internship

Get hands-on experience in the office and in the field working on road projects in Oakland County this upcoming summer 2026!

Potential Projects:

• Learn in the ins and outs of inspection and documentation of construction work on road construction projects


• Opportunities to assist survey crews in project layout and coordination


• Work with local utilities and contract companies on road projects


• Assist with residential driveway review


• Learn how coordinate various disciplines and skilled trades through design and construction of a ground-up building project


• Opportunities to assist materials testing lab with ongoing sampling/testing


• All Interns will create/give a presentation on the completed projects at the end of the internship

Note: Assignments may vary based on division and current road projects.  

Skills Required:

• Available and able to work Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, with a range of expected overtime (varies per department)


• The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing


• Must be able to communicate positively with concerned citizens/residents


• Possess strong organizational skills and complete all work in a timely manner 


• Accuracy and attention to detail


• Basic knowledge of construction/engineering concepts


• Work zone safety knowledge


• Able to collaborate and flourish in a team setting

Education/Certifications:

• Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Masters student pursuing a degree in Civil or Construction Engineering


• Legally eligible to work in the United States.  


• Valid Driver’s License
