Clinical Internship (LPC or MSW - Clinical Track)

The Clinical Internship at Sample Supports offers a robust learning environment for Master’s-level students pursuing licensure as an LPC or LCSW. Interns will work directly with clients receiving behavioral health services, including individuals with co-occurring mental health diagnoses and intellectual or developmental disabilities. This placement provides clinical supervision, case conceptualization training, and exposure to trauma-informed care, DBT, and CBT-based interventions.

Interns will have the opportunity to provide individual therapy, group facilitation, and collaborative case management under licensed supervision. This internship is ideal for students who are passionate about inclusive mental health care and ready to contribute to a high-impact behavioral health team.

What You Will Learn:

• How to conduct intake assessments, write treatment plans, and document sessions


• Evidence-based therapeutic practices (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing)


• Skills for working with clients with IDD and co-occurring behavioral needs


• Group therapy facilitation and curriculum development


• Interdisciplinary collaboration with case managers, DSPs, and supervisors


• Navigating Medicaid documentation requirements and ethical care standards

Job Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group therapy to assigned clients under supervision


• Create and maintain accurate clinical documentation and progress notes


• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and attend case review meetings


• Participate in supervision, case consultation, and training sessions


• Observe and co-lead behavior support plans and crisis de-escalation strategies


• Assist in assessment processes and data tracking for treatment outcomes


• Uphold Sample Supports’ values of inclusion, advocacy, and ethical care


• Act as a mandatory reporter for suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation
  
  

Qualifications

• Current master’s-level student in a counseling or clinical social work program


• On track for LPC or LCSW licensure (field placement approved by program)


• Strong writing and interpersonal skills


• Interest in working with neurodiverse populations or clients with disabilities


• Open to feedback and committed to professional growth


• Able to maintain confidentiality and follow clinical documentation standards
