College/University Internship - Advancement

AYA Advancement Intern 

Goal: Fall 2026

Compensation: $500/Semester

Hours: 15-20, Hybrid Optional

AYA’s Advancement Intern will be a vital part of the Advancement team! This role provides hands-on experience in nonprofit development while assisting with donor stewardship, community engagement, and social media. 

Job Description: 

Social Media (5 hours)

• Social Media Management with support from Advancement Team (5 hours)


• Help communicate AYA's mission, values, and impact to supporters and the broader community.

Donor Stewardship and In-Kind Donations (5-10 hours)

• Donor Data Management
  
  
  
  • Clean up donor database
  
  
  
  


• Support with Gratitude process
  
  
  
  • Writing gratitude notes for donors, volunteers, etc
  
  
  • Assisting with the creation of new gratitude ideas! 
  
  
  
  


• In-Kind Donations - Reaching out to local businesses/large bulk options!
  
  
  
  • Basic needs, housing needs, etc
  
  
  • Meal Coordination 
  
  
  
  


• Year-End Holiday Gift Campaign 
  
  
  
  • Tree Tag Creation 
  
  
  • Connecting with local businesses for tree tag locations 
  
  
  
  

Community Engagement and Volunteer Support (5 hours)

• Tours


• Event Support as needed. 
  
  
  
  • Coming Home preparation - Silent Auction! 
  
  
  
  


• Group Volunteer day of support 
  
  
  
  • Assist with corporate volunteer group activities
  
  
  
  

Experience Needed: 

• Graphic Design for Social Media 


• Current college student or recent graduate in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, business, or a related field.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Experience with event planning or volunteer coordination.


• Familiarity with donor databases or CRM systems (Bloomerang)


• Interest in fundraising, nonprofit leadership, and community engagement.
