Your Opportunity 


As an Intern for Summer 2027 based in our Columbus office, you will work in a team environment and have exposure to water resources related projects.  Our projects involve water line installations, storm and sanitary systems, water treatment facilities, flood protection and risk reduction, dams and river diversions, land development, stream restoration, and other aspects of civil engineering. Candidates should be highly motivated and dependable students who are taking or have taken water resources and other civil engineering courses. This is a terrific opportunity for a college student to support a number of exciting local and national projects.  


Your Key Responsibilities 



  • Candidate will assist engineering and administrative staff with such tasks as: 

  • Data processing and management using GIS to support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling as well as record creation for water service projects

  • Preparing spreadsheets, graphs, and figures for construction reports 

  • Reviewing construction plans, specifications, quantity take-offs and construction estimates 

  • Assisting with field work for data collection, site inspections and construction observations 

  • Supporting Project Managers with various tasks to advance and track project progress. 

  • Internship is with the local Water Resources group, but there may be opportunities to assist in other disciplines in the office such as Geotechnical, Transportation, and Environmental Services. 



Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials 



  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) 

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 

  • Must have good organizational skills, be reliable, detail orientated and capable of working independently on assigned tasks. 

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.

  • Exposure to PDF-editing software including Bluebeam or Adobe is a plus. 


Education and Experience 



  • Must be a college student candidate for Civil and/or Environmental Engineering degree or other technical discipline. 

  • Valid driver’s license required. 

  • Previous internship or co-op experience a plus 


Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
