Data Analytics Co-op

We're looking for a curious, analytical, and detail-oriented Co-op to join our Corporate Quality team.  

This role offers a unique opportunity for a student to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business and manufacturing challenges at Boston Beer Company. The Quality Data Analytics Co-op will support the collection, validation, modeling, interpretation, and presentation of data. The student will work with datasets from across the organization to uncover meaningful insights, identify trends, and communicate findings that support Corporate Quality and brewery operations.

This role is part of a six-month co-op program running from January 4, 2027, through June 25, 2027, and is fully onsite at our Cincinnati Brewery or Breinigsville Brewery.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Gathering
• Collect data from relevant business, quality, manufacturing, and operational sources.
• Work with internal partners to understand data requirements and identify appropriate sources.
• Integrate and extract information from multiple datasets using relevant programs, tools, and coding languages.
• Organize source data to support efficient and accurate analysis.

Data Validation

• Review datasets for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
• Identify missing information, anomalies, and potential data-quality concerns.
• Partner with stakeholders to clarify discrepancies and validate findings.
• Document validation methods, assumptions, and corrections to support transparent analysis.

Data Modeling

• Prepare, clean, and structure datasets for analytical use.
• Apply appropriate analytical and statistical methods to real-world quality and operational challenges.
• Use SQL and other relevant tools to integrate, extract, and organize data.
• Adjust analytical methods or direction based on interim findings.
• Where appropriate, support regression modeling, decision trees, clustering, or other statistical analyses.

Data Interpretation

• Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, relationships, and actionable insights.
• Apply curiosity and critical thinking when evaluating results.
• Connect analytical findings to quality processes, manufacturing operations, and business needs.
• Collaborate with Corporate Quality and brewery teams to understand the operational context behind the data.
• Develop clear, evidence-based conclusions and recommendations.

Presenting Data

• Translate complex analytical findings into clear and accessible business insights.
• Develop reports, data visualizations, presentations, and analytical summaries.
• Present findings to Corporate Quality, brewery, and other cross-functional partners.
• Tailor communications based on the audience needs and level of technical expertise.
• Clearly explain analytical approaches, key findings, limitations, and recommended next steps.

Required Qualifications

• Current third- or fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in data analytics, data science, statistics, mathematics, business analytics, computer science, engineering, or another analytics-based program
• Excellent data analysis skills.
• Demonstrated curiosity when reviewing and interpreting data.
• Ability to adapt the direction of an analysis based on interim findings.
• Ability to integrate and extract information from datasets using relevant programs and coding languages.
• Experience using SQL.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Must continue to be enrolled in school upon completion of the co-op.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience using R or Python to extract, manipulate, and analyze data.
• Experience conducting statistical analyses, including regression modeling, decision trees, or clustering.
• Experience developing reports, presentations, or data visualizations.
• Interest in quality systems, manufacturing, operations, or consumer packaged goods.
• Ability to communicate technical findings to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
