DoW Skillbridge - Diesel Technician Opportunity

Cummins will consider any Active duty member that is eligible for the DoW SkillBridge program however, for immediate consideration, Cummins is looking for Military members to fill the following roles:

• Diesel Technician or Power Generation Technician


• Alternate locations across the United States. 

Qualifications and Competencies

• Cummins DoW SkillBridge criteria:
• Must be a current Active Duty Servicemember
• Must be separating from the Military in 4-12 months
• Must be able to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to a maximum of 6 months SkillBridge internship
• Must be able to complete 40 hours per week
• Willingness to learn from others on the job

Requirements

• Active military service member participating in the SkillBridge program with a strong interest in diesel mechanics or heavy equipment repair.
• Dealership experience or hands-on mechanical background is highly preferred.
• Basic knowledge of engine diagnostics, vehicle maintenance procedures, and mechanical systems repair.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or farm machinery is advantageous.
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately; strong mechanical knowledge required.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and basic electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and operate machinery safely; excellent attention to safety protocols is essential.
• Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service and teamwork.

This non-paid internship provides an exceptional pathway for transitioning military skills into civilian careers in Heavy Truck repair, industrial equipment maintenance, or engine diagnostics—setting you up for long-term success in the Heavy Duty industry!




 

 

Compensation and Benefits: 

This is a military transitional program that does not provide compensation through Cummins. If selected for full-time employment with Cummins upon completion of SkillBridge you will be eligible for: base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
