Environmental Compliance Co-op

We're looking for a motivated, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented Co-op to join our Environmental Health & Safety team.  

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting environmental compliance, industrial safety, risk management, and injury-reduction initiatives within a manufacturing environment.

The Co-op will assist with regulatory compliance monitoring, environmental inspections, standard operating procedure development, and safety reviews in production areas. Working alongside cross-functional partners, the Co-op will help strengthen compliance programs, identify risks, improve documentation, and promote environmental and workplace safety best practices throughout the brewery.

This position is part of a six-month co-op program running from January 4, 2027, through June 25, 2027. The role is fully onsite at our Breinigsville, PA Brewery. 

Key Responsibilities

Environmental Compliance

• Assist in monitoring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
• Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify potential areas of noncompliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Support the preparation and submission of required environmental reports.
• Maintain and update environmental compliance documentation, including inspection records, permits, and regulatory correspondence.
• Assist with environmental incident investigations and the development of mitigation strategies.
• Support regulatory compliance monitoring throughout the brewery.

Safety and Risk Reduction

• Perform serious injury and fatality (SIF) analyses in production areas.
• Participate in SIF reviews and help document identified risks, findings, and recommended corrective actions.
• Audit Safe Work permits for completeness and compliance.
• Review equipment-specific lockout/tagout (LOTO) documentation.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify opportunities to reduce workplace risks and improve safety practices.

Programs and Documentation

• Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to environmental compliance and workplace safety.
• Participate in the development and implementation of environmental training programs for employees.
• Help ensure environmental and safety documentation remains accurate, organized, and current.
• Support ongoing improvements to compliance and injury-reduction programs.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with various departments to promote environmental awareness and operational best practices.
• Communicate inspection findings, documentation needs, and recommended corrective actions to appropriate partners.
• Support additional projects and responsibilities assigned by the Environmental Compliance Manager.

Required Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field. 
• Must continue to be enrolled upon completion of the Co-op  
• Strong attention to detail and an interest in environmental compliance and industrial safety.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to document findings clearly and maintain accurate compliance records.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or prior experience related to environmental regulations, occupational safety, sustainability, or manufacturing operations.
• Familiarity with environmental audits, regulatory reporting, or compliance documentation.
• Exposure to SOP development, risk assessments, incident investigations, or data analysis.
• Interest in environmental compliance, injury reduction, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments and priorities.
