Wage Range: $12.00-13.00/hour


 

Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): 

  • To assist an Academic Civic Engagement (ACE) course faculty with logistics around scheduling, hours tracking, transportation, and/or reflection in the First Year Seminar, "Investigating Science”


 

Transferable Skills: 

  • Communicate digitally and in-person with diverse people and communities

  • Manage event scheduling and logistics

  • Facilitate reflection among and with peers

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The ACE Course Assistant will: 

  • Determine precise tasks in conjunction with the faculty member and the ACE office

  • Create relevant schedule and hours tracking mechanism for the particular course

  • Confirm logistics with each Community School site coordinator

  • Serve as a liaison between the sites and the college

  • Drive a van for and be present at all Community School visits (Wednesdays in October-December from 3-5 pm)

  • Attend classes on Wednesdays, 2-2:55 pm during the term.


 

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills) 

Education: Student in academic good standing. Must have completed the course previously OR have met prerequisites for the course. Must be authorized to drive St. Olaf vehicles or be willing to become an authorized driver.  


 

Experience: Students should have experience working in professional businesses and organizations, preferably nonprofit settings. 


 

Skills: Ideal candidate would have skills in the following: 

  • Google Docs, Spreadsheets, Forms

  • Phone call and email professional etiquette

  • Verbal communication and deep listening skills for peer reflection


 

Physical and Environmental Factors:

This position requires lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs. and driving to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise to perform the essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
