The GEM student will be working on integrating and commissioning the APS HEXM beamline's Psylotech load frame and the PulseRay furnace so that we have thermo-mechanical loading capabilities that work with high energy x-ray characterization techniques offered at HEXM. Specifically, the student will be designing a furnace mount so that the furnace and the load frame can work together. Then the loading and heating capabilities will be characterized to understand the system's performance. We will conduct characterization using optical devices as well as high energy x-rays.
