Graduate Student Assistant for Information Technology (PT)

The Information Technology Graduate Student Assistant supports Loyola Notre Dame Library’s educational technologies, makerspace tools, and staff hardware and software. This role provides support for staff and library technology, including troubleshooting issues and assisting with technology inventory maintenance.

The part-time assistant sets up, maintains, and removes hardware as needed. This position assists in maintaining a technology inventory, creating documentation, organizing library hardware storage, and providing assistance for staff, patrons, classes, and events.

Position Responsibilities:

• Provides technical support for library patrons and staff, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues and maintaining computer systems;   
• Provides support for library staff technology challenges and ensures issue resolution;  
• Assists in the management, tracking, and optimization of technology assets to ensure accurate and up-to-date records in SysAid and in hardware storage;  
• Assesses the effectiveness of automated technology updates and other processes; 
• Assists in developing and maintaining library technology documentation;  
• Assists in implementing new technology and providing support and guidance to staff during the transition. 

Education and Experience:  

• Currently enrolled in a graduate education program;
• Bachelor’s degree, commensurate experience, or commensurate certificate in information technology, computer science, or related field.  

• Demonstrated interest in providing technical support in an office setting and learning and implementing technical procedures; Ability to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively; 
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; 
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment and demonstrate a commitment to continued learning and development; 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people; 
• Demonstrated excellent customer service skills when interacting with faculty, staff, students, and community members.
