Reports To: Project Manager and/or Senior Project Engineer

Status: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Part-time (temporary)

Pay Range: $22.00 to $24.00 hourly 

Supervises: Not Applicable

Location: Hybrid - remote/office

The Intern observes and assists in the development and implantation of clear, complete and accurate working plans and detail drawings from rough or detailed sketches or notes for engineering purposes, according to specified dimensions using computer and specially designed software.  

Responsibilities:

• Read strucutral and architectural plans and specifications
• Apply engineering knowledge to routine engineering tasks under close supervision
• Perform basic structural calculations to analyze and design individual building components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software
• Develop basic details under direct supervision
• Support various engineering staff on multiple projects as needed
• Create 3-D analytical models from 2-D drawings
• Basic structural analysis and design of projects of all material types (steel, concrete, masonry and wood)
• Generate and scan prints
• Perform basic shop drawing/submittal reviews
• Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of a Bachelor’s program in Civil Engineering (with emphasis on structural engineering for structural department) and at least a 3.0 GPA (please provide a copy of your transcript)
• Knowledge of general engineering principals and general engineering design
• Ability to perform routine engineering tasks with close supervision
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, Outlook and Excel
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit for structural department and AutoCAD and Civil 3-D for civil department

Lifting Requirements:

• Lifting 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 10 pounds
