Job Description - Intern, LSSP

Location: Hattie Mae White \n\nDepartment: Special Ed - LSSP \n\nArea:District Wide \n\nContract Months:10 \n\nSalary Range: $64,000.00 \u2013 $89,500.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 26-27 \n\n## POSITION SUMMARY\n\nProvides a variety of psychological services to assist teachers, parents, and children under the direction of a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology. The Intern will provide early intervention, consultation, evaluation and assessment, research and program development to support individual student achievement.\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES\n\n * Selects and administers appropriate test instruments and analyzes test results of emotional/behavioral factors.\n * Participates on campus Intervention Assistance Teams (IAT) and Response to Intervention (RtI) team; provides behavioral consultations and strategies to professional staff.\n * Assists in the development of psychological and behavioral interventions for students; assists in the implementation and monitoring of behavioral support plans.\n * Presents evaluation results and interprets data for Admission, Review, and Dismissal Committee, including parents.\n * Designs and implements appropriate counseling services to support educational progress of identified students.\n * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. \n \n\n\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES CONTINUED\n\nPerforms other job-related duties as assigned.\n\n## POSITION REQUIREMENTS\n\nPerforms other job-related duties as assigned.\n\n## Education\n\nMaster\u2019s degree - Must have completed required university hours for the completion of a Master\u2019s degree in School Psychology minus the requirement for internship in a school setting.\n\n## Experience\n\n1 to 3 years\n\n## Other Requirements\n\nLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES \nNo supervisory or direct people management responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.\n\n \nWORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT/BUDGET AUTHORITY\n\n * Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an \"as needed\" basis.\n * No budget development activity is required.\n\n\n\n \nPROBLEM SOLVING /IMPACT OF DECISIONS \n\n * Decisions are made on routine matters affecting few individuals and usually within the confines of the job\u0027s own department. Specific job activities and results are typically reviewed closely. There are limited requirements for developing new ideas or changes in methods, procedures or services.\n * Decisions have minor, small and possibly incremental impact on the department or facility. Errors are usually discovered in succeeding operations where most of the work is verified or checked and is normally confined to a single department or phase of the organizational activities resulting in brief inconvenience.\n\n\n\n \nCOMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS \nBasic communication \u2013 very little communication required such as receiving basic instructions. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and co-workers in own department.\n\n \nCUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS \nMakes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.\n\n \nWORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS\n\n * Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements.\n * Able to see and read test manuals, scoring protocols and computer screen; able to observe student behavior in multiple settings\n * Able to hear student responses\n * Ability to get from one campus location and/or office to another; ability to drive a car\n\n\n\n \n \n\nHouston Independent School District is an equal opportunity employer. \n
