• Strawbridge School (Maryland)

Overview of The Strawbridge School

The Strawbridge School is a non-public school approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). The program provides small, caring classroom settings guided by certified special education teachers for youth elementary through high school. The school serves youth with emotional, behavioral, and/or intellectual challenges in a supportive and nurturing environment. Our team addresses the unique educational needs of students who have been unable to thrive in a public-school setting. This is a 10-month program with extended 
school year that runs from July – June.

NOTE: Everstand has locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic, however only certain sites have internship slots open. You’ll have an opportunity to note which locations and programs you’re interested in on your application.

Benefits of an Internship at The Strawbridge School
• Learn the essential skills to become a school social worker
• Plan and prepare for individual & group therapy sessions
• Practice clinical documentation such as progress notes, IEP progress reports, etc.
• Work with students with various mental health diagnoses
• Shadow & observe various departments, meetings, therapy sessions & crisis management
• Receive training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and other de-escalation techniques

Requirements for Internship

• Student currently enrolled in Social Work or Counseling Master’s program
• Mandatory Tuesday and/or Thursday; other days of the week are optional
• Flexible hours between 8am-2:45pm
• No travel requirements

Recruitment Process Overview
Interview Process:
• Potential intern will complete application through online portal
• HR will complete phone screening with potential intern
• Interview will be set up with necessary Strawbridge staff

Agency Requirements  
• Background check and drug screen 
• Mandatory 2-week new hire orientation
• Unpaid Internship

•    What options does Everstand offer in terms of internship length?
Internship length varies by program and type. Most internships last one or two semesters.
•    What does onboarding and training look like for interns at Everstand?
All interns complete a general onboarding process. Program-specific training is provided based on placement. Master’s-level clinical interns are trained in clinical assessments and therapeutic interventions used within their assigned program.
•    How will Everstand meet my academic program’s internship requirements?
During the application process, Everstand will review your program’s requirements to ensure alignment. Once accepted, interns are paired with an Everstand supervisor for support and guidance throughout the internship.Can Everstand employees complete internships within their current programs?
This is determined case-by-case and is decided in collaboration between the employee’s supervisor and their internship supervisor.
•    Can I complete an internship remotely?
No, all internships at Everstand require an in-person commitment.
•    Can Everstand employees complete internships within their current programs?
This is determined case-by-case and is decided in collaboration between the employee’s supervisor and their internship supervisor.
•    Can I become an Everstand employee after my internship?
Yes! We encourage interns to apply for open positions. Many current Everstand team members began as interns.
