Under the supervision of the Coordinator - Recreational Sports and the Student Manager – Intramural Sports, the Intramural Sports Official is responsible for providing a fun atmosphere in a competitive, yet safe, environment. Officials must be able to implement policies and playing rules in order to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness and safety.

This position is based at the Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Requirements
Educational Requirements and Qualifying Experience
Must be a currently enrolled student at Cal Poly with a minimum of 6 units. Graduate students must carry 4 units.
Ability to officiate multiple intramural sports
Knowledge of game rules and intramural policies preferred
Participation in Intramural Sport Officials' Training Clinics
Previous customer service experience preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work with diverse populations and those with special limitations or needs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Educate clients and enforce policies regarding safe and proper use of equipment and facility
Officiate intramural contests
Assist with pre and post-game logistics and administrative functions
Assist with preparation and inspection of the game site
Provide PR/Program promotion and policy education to participants
Attend quarterly officials training clinic
Maintain familiarity with evacuation plan for work area
Attend all mandatory meetings, workshops, and retreats
Awareness of safety concerns and risk management
Awareness of and appreciation for individual uniqueness and diversity
Maintain prompt hours and follow absence procedures
Maintain a positive relationship with staff and co-workers
Adhere to and enforce all ASI departmental policies and procedures
Ensure a safe environment for all participants
Provide a friendly, upbeat and customer service oriented environment at all times
Other duties as assigned
Other Duties and Responsibilities
The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in ASI policy as a condition of their employment.

Period of Employment
Employment with this organization is of an "at will" nature, which means that the employee may resign at any time and ASI may discharge the employee at any time with or without cause.

Compensation and Hours
Hourly Pay Range: $16.90 per hour
Hourly Pay Range: $16.90 per hour - $16.90 per hour
Position may require working late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Position requires a minimum of two consecutive terms of work availability.
