Nurse Extern - Semester 2027

Inova is accepting applications for our Nurse Extern – 2027 Semester Program. Inova offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience to allow you to grow in confidence and knowledge!

Start dates: 1/4/27 and 3/8/27

Nurse Externs - Semester Nurse Externs are required to work a minimum of 96 hours on the unit over 12-week session.

The first week (5 days) is mandatory training and orientation (daytime hours).

 ***Applicants must be currently enrolled in a nursing degree program and have successfully completed at least one acute care clinical rotation***

Nurse Extern Job Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education (official transcript required): Currently enrolled nursing student with minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0
• Other: Successful completion of one acute care (med-surg) clinical rotation, one faculty letter of recommendation

• Licensure/ Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association required upon start

Shifts: All (Day shift, mid-shift, Night shift)

Specialty Areas: Inpatient units only
