Description

The Prevention Education office is seeking a Prevention Education Ambassador to support campus-wide initiatives that promote student well-being, healthy relationships, consent, and violence prevention. The Ambassador serves as a liaison between students and university staff by creating educational programming, managing outreach and social media initiatives, and gathering student feedback to strengthen campus communication. This position provides hands-on experience in leadership, event planning, peer education, advocacy, and digital communications while contributing to Butler University's commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, and inclusive campus community. The role offers meaningful opportunities to develop professional skills, collaborate with campus partners, and make a lasting impact on the student experience.

Work Schedule:

10 hours/week; Schedule determined collaboratively

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement outreach initiatives, including creating and managing social media content that promotes student well-being, healthy relationships, consent, bystander intervention, and prevention education
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate at least one educational program or event each semester on topics related to prevention education and student well-being
  • Serve as a liaison between students and university staff by gathering student feedback and participating in Student Advocacy Taskforce
  • Collaborate with the Prevention Education & Student Well-Being Specialist and campus partners to support educational campaigns, workshops, and awareness initiatives
  • Assist with office projects, communications, and other prevention education initiatives that advance the department's mission and support student success

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Current Butler University student with sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student standing
  • Ability to work approximately 8 hours per week and attend required meetings and events
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently
  • Interest in prevention education, student well-being, healthy relationships, mental health, or related topics
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, privacy, and serve as a mandatory reporter in accordance with university policy
  • Willingness to learn social media content creation, event planning, and peer education strategies

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience in peer education, health promotion, advocacy, student leadership, or mentoring
  • Experience planning, coordinating, or facilitating educational programs, workshops, or campus events
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Canva)
  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in public health, psychology, social work, education, communications, sociology, or a related field
  • Experience collaborating with student organizations, campus offices, or community partners
  • Willingness to learn public speaking, presentation, and group facilitation skills
  • Passion for promoting student well-being, healthy relationships, consent, violence prevention, and inclusive campus communities
