Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an intern to support the Health Physics and Radiological Engineering team. As an intern you will use the 1961 SL-1 reactor accident as a case study in nuclear forensics and emergency preparedness, collecting and analyzing legacy materials from the site to identify surviving radiological and materials signatures. Using modern analytical methods, the intern will reconstruct elements of the historical accident source term, assess radiological consequences, and translate the findings into lessons and measurement strategies for modern small modular reactor (SMR) emergency response.
This team works a 4x10 schedule onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship.
