Wage Range: $12.00-13.00/hour
Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position): To support and mentor students studying abroad/away at all stages: researching opportunities, pre-departure and re-entry. To provide administrative support for the Smith Center for Global Engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as an initial point of contact for visitors and students (ie. answer questions about study abroad/away study programs)
Advise students in study abroad/away study programs in one-on-one and group settings
Hold regular advising office hours
Support and assist in developing and facilitating programming (i.e. orientation sessions, 101 Advising Sessions, social events, open houses, etc.)
Give presentations in classrooms, meetings, orientations, and other events (i.e. orientation sessions, 101 Advising Sessions, social events, etc.)
Help students navigate the website and application
Assist in updating/maintaining website and TerraDotta/Studio Abroad and social media accounts
Assist with clerical tasks as assigned (ie.phones, filing, scanning, checking mail, etc.)
Assist with promotion of study abroad/away through marketing and events (i.e. create/edit letters, posters, etc.)
Assist Smith Center staff as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)
Student Work Award Recipient
Previously studied abroad/away through a St. Olaf approved program (January Term, semester, summer, or year)
At least one year of experience as a St. Olaf College student
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of visa processes a plus
Possess basic computer skills including but not limited to: word processing, e-mail, and Excel.
Work independently and in a team environment
Skill in interpersonal and written communication
Ability to always greet visitors in a polite, courteous and helpful manner
Ability to be flexible and willing to help out and adjust workload quickly
Skill in completing tasks accurately and with attention to detail
Ability and willingness to support, respect and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community including faculty, staff, students and partners
Familiarity with and an understanding of the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and identities, including first-generation college students, students with disabilities, students of varying racial, gender, ethnic, or cultural backgrounds and identities, etc.
