This is a part time student position at Texas Performing Arts. Both work study and non-work study students are encouraged to apply. Position is available to continue throughout student tenure.

About Texas Performing Arts 

Texas Performing Arts (TPA) is the professional arts presenting and producing program of The University of Texas at Austin. One of the largest and most active university-based performing arts centers in the U.S., TPA is an anchor institution in Austin’s arts, cultural, and entertainment landscape. TPA operates venues on the UT campus including Austin’s largest theater, Bass Concert Hall. Its public programs include Broadway in Austin; an international season of dance, theater, music and more; and the Texas Welcomes series of national touring artists. TPA is part of UT’s College of Fine Arts and engages students across the university in creative experiences. 

 

Purpose 

As a university-based performing arts organization, we are committed to sharing incredible live performances with UT students. And we think the best way to reach students is through students—that’s why we need you! As a TPA Student AmBASSador, you’ll help spread the word on campus about Texas Performing Arts. 

 

Responsibilities 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Participate in monthly AmBASSador team meetings 

  • Tabling on campus for TPA twice a month 

  • Hanging posters and flyers for TPA events on campus 

  • Working at the Hook ‘em Arts Student Lounge for a pre-performance reception at least twice a month 

  • Helping with TPA Education and Engagement activities, such as school day performances and community workshops 

  • Attending and coordinating monthly Hook ‘em Arts general meetings 

  • Attending and coordinating UT student social events 

  • Leading tours of Bass Concert Hall

  • Working a regular weekly desk shift at Bass Concert Hall


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Availability to work scheduled shifts, both during normal hours and on nights and weekends

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Accuracy in spelling, grammar, and punctuation

  •  Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Strong independent and collaborative work ethic

  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual behaviors

  • Proven ability to think quickly on one’s feet to solve challenges as they arise

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • The ability to lift 25 pounds regularly 

  • An interest in the performing arts 

  • An interest in marketing, volunteer coordination, and/or customer service

Salary Range 

$13.00/hour 

 

Working Conditions 

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Prolonged screen time 

  • Significant in person, over the phone, and written communication with members of the public 

  • Physically able to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds

  • Works independently and unsupervised on a regular basis

  • Work collaboratively as member of a team with people of varied backgrounds

 

Work Shift 

Standard 8am – 5pm office hours

Some night and weekend work available in relation to performances and events

Schedule is variable and based on performance schedule
