Job Title: Student Worker - Chemistry

Job Summary

The Student Worker in the Chemistry and Biochemistry department will be responsible for assisting with preparing materials for weekly lab sections, cleaning up after weekly lab sections, and assisting the instructor with administrative tasks associated with weekly lab and/or recitation sections. This role involves working in the chemical stock room to prepare for and clean up after lab sections, assisting with supervision of students for safety during lab procedures, and responding to student questions about lab procedures or course materials during either lab or recitation sections.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities)

• Assists the instructor with setting up and cleaning up lab materials.
• Assists the instructor with supervising student safety during lab procedures.
• Responds to student questions and assists the instructor with helping students during lab procedures. 
• Responds to student questions and assists the instructor with helping students with course material during lab or recitation sections.
• Assist the instructor with general administrative tasks associated with the lab section or recitation section.
• Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent Education and Experience:

• Currently enrolled as a student.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Basic knowledge of office equipment and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in lab or stockroom role.
• Previous experience as a tutor.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.

Special Job Dimensions

May require standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of light office or lab supplies.
