Job Description - Student Technology Fellow


Student Technology Fellows work directly with a faculty member assigned to teach online courses.   Fellows meet with the faculty member to map out the best way to utilize technology to meet course goals, teach faculty techniques that will better facilitate course delivery, and act as a type of technology consultant/help desk on ways to effectively incorporate technology into their online courses.  Student Technology Fellows meet with their assigned faculty member weekly and provide 3-4 hours a week of support throughout the semester.  This may include videotaping, video editing, podcasting and addressing universal design/ADA compliance issues. The Student Technology Fellow position is a one semester, volunteer position that requires 3-4 hours a week.


 


Qualifications:



  1. Must be a current Delta student.

  2. Demonstrated mastery of online technology which may include successful completion of courses in any one of the following areas: Graphics Arts, Computer Services, or Electronic Media Broadcasting.

  3. Ability to explain online technology in an-easy-to-understand way to faculty assigned to teach online courses.

  4. Strong organization and recruitment skills.

  5. Available to meet one-on-one with assigned faculty and work 3-4 hours a week for one semester to enhance online teaching, learning and delivery.


Duties:



  1. Have initial meeting with faculty member who teaches online and document their needs for technology assistance.

  2. Develop a technology assistance plan to meet the faculty member’s needs.

  3. Meet with the faculty at least one hour a week to provide up to three hours a week of support and assistance.


Supervisors’ Titles:   Senior Student Technology Fellows, FCTE Director, Vice-President of Instruction and Learning Services
