The Art's and Sciences Learning Design & Technology welcomes applications for the position of Student Testing Proctor.

Student Testing Proctors work under the supervision of a staff coordinator to assist in the administration of course exams. Proctors will work in a pilot on-Grounds testing facility and in other on-Grounds locations, including classrooms, to support the delivery of well-designed assessments. Student Testing Proctors play a key role in supporting academic integrity, innovation, and instructional excellence.

 Student employees will be  trained and supervised to administer a variety of exams, drawing on existing testing standards to maintain integrity, security, and confidentiality of tests and examinees. Duties include:

  • Proctoring exams in spaces on Grounds.
  • Maintaining the integrity of exams and ensuring student privacy at all times
  • Ensuring a clean, quiet testing environment
  • Communicating with examinees, faculty, and staff
  • Administrative tasks (answering phones and emails, utilizing testing software as assigned, scanning and copying, filing, maintaining testing schedule, and other clerical tasks as needed)
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing
  • Available to work 6+ hours per week

  • Reliability, dependability, and demonstrated commitment to integrity
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Readiness to follow specific written and oral directions and policies
  • Readiness to provide excellent service by acting with integrity, responsibility, and courtesy
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English

Compensation:

  • Undergraduates: This position will be paid $16.00 per hour.
  • Graduate students may be assigned more complex responsibilities resulting in higher compensation rates.
  • Work study students are encouraged to apply.

Education: Current Undergrad and Graduate UVA student (Federal Work Study Students Encouraged to apply)
Experience: None
Licensure: None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
