Internship Overview

This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in supplier evaluation, data analysis, and strategic decision-making. The selected intern will work on defining supplier attributes, collecting relevant data, designing a dynamic scorecard, and implementing it to influence supplier-related decisions. The intern will work closely with the Supply Chain and Procurement teams, gaining insights into supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Defining Supplier Attributes

• Research and identify key attributes that determine supplier effectiveness.
• Work with internal stakeholders to prioritize attributes based on business needs.
• Develop a standardized framework for evaluating supplier performance.

Data Collection & Analysis

• Gather historical supplier performance data from ERP systems, procurement reports, and other sources.
• Identify key data points required for effective supplier evaluation.
• Conduct data validation and cleansing to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Designing the Supplier Scorecard

• Develop a supplier ranking system based on weighted criteria.
• Design an interactive dashboard or reporting tool to visualize supplier performance.
• Ensure the scorecard provides actionable insights to procurement and leadership teams.

Implementation & Decision Impact

• Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to integrate the scorecard into supplier selection and negotiation processes.
• Establish thresholds and benchmarks to categorize suppliers into performance tiers (e.g., A, B, C, D rankings).
• Provide recommendations on how to improve supplier relationships based on scorecard insights.

Dynamic & Updatable Data System

• Work on automating data pulls from ERP or procurement systems to update the scorecard dynamically.
• Develop an easy-to-maintain structure that allows periodic updates and real-time insights.
• Ensure stakeholders can access and interpret the data with minimal manual intervention.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the intern will:

• Gain practical experience in supplier evaluation and procurement analytics.
• Learn how to extract, clean, and analyze procurement data for decision-making.
• Understand how to design and implement a performance management framework.
• Develop expertise in business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Excel, Tableau) for scorecard visualization.
• Learn how to work cross-functionally with procurement, sales, and supply chain teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong analytical and data management skills.
• Proficiency in Excel and data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
• Experience with ERP systems and procurement data is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with different teams.
