Summary:

The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is the hub for the student experience at American University. CSI facilitates leadership development, organizational advising, and programs that help foster a sense of belonging for the next generation of changemakers. Our office is home to Student Government, Student Activities Council, Student Media, AU Club Council, Recognized Student Organizations, Fraternity & Sorority Life and the Graduate Leadership Council.

This position functions as a primary mentor for student leaders and organizations, providing direct guidance on event logistics, policy education, and leadership development. Additionally, the role manages administrative workflows including club re-registration, event approvals on Engage, and support for campus programming.

Essential Functions:

• Advise and provide support for undergraduate student organizations and student leaders, including event planning, general inquiries, and policy education. Advise three categories of Recognized Student Organizations.

• Along with the CSI advisor, the GA is responsible for reviewing and approving events posted on Engage by Recognized Student Organizations.

• Advise dedicated student government branch(es) and student leaders through training, meeting attendance, and regular 1:1s.

• Support the annual renewal club re-registration process, including but not limited to marketing, student leader eligibility checks and roster updates, constitution reviews, and correspondence with student leaders.

• Attend weekly CSI staff meetings.

• Assist with Center for Student Involvement events including Late Night and Weekend programming.

• Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• Part-time.

• 20 hours per week.

Salary Range:

• $18.95 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Must be a current full-time graduate student at AU.
