Temporary Summer Laborer

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  Performs a variety of manual labor tasks and will occasionally operate light equipment such as a steel drum roller.  Position needed from May 11, 2026 to August 27, 2026 but start and end dates can be flexible for desired candidate. Please note that this position is seasonal, non-benefited.   This position is 40 hours a week Monday - Thursday, 10 hour shifts. 

Under general supervision, performs a variety of manual labor tasks in support of Road and Bridge operations. Primary duties include using hand tools such as shovels, assisting equipment operators with daily tasks, cleaning and maintaining cattle guards, and operating equipment such as steel rollers. Work may also involve general roadway maintenance, site cleanup, and other duties as assigned. Employees must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of hand tools, equipment, and general road maintenance practices is preferred. Employees must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and demonstrate awareness of traffic safety and safe work practices. A general mechanical aptitude is beneficial. The ability to work effectively as part of a team, maintain positive working relationships, and complete tasks independently is essential. Physical stamina, reliability, and a strong work ethic are required.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening. Employees in this position are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with County policy.
