HF Custom (formerly Sam Moore Furniture), a division of Hooker Furnishings Corporation (NASDAQ: HOFT), is currently recruiting for an Upholstery Trainee to work in our plant in Bedford, VA.
Hooker Furnishings Corporation, in its 101st year of business, is a designer, marketer, and importer of case goods (wooden and metal furniture), leather furniture, and fabric-upholstered furniture for the residential, hospitality, and contract markets.

The Position:
We are looking for a dependable individual with great attention to detail to join our upholstery team as a trainee. This individual will:
Learn how to finish the outside of upholstered furniture pieces, ensuring a clean and professional appearance
Learn to turn and move furniture on platforms to place fabric and leather properly
Train on how to use a hammering motion to apply material to furniture frames
Begin learning how to read diagrams and apply materials using proper measurements
Practice using staple guns and basic hand tools such as a pneumatic screwdriver, mallet, scissors, utility knife, and hot melt glue gun
Ensure tight, wrinkle-free fabric application with clean lines and angles
Candidates that will be a great fit will:
Have an interest in learning upholstery skills
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing 8–9 hours a day and working independently
Learn how to use basic hand tools, staple guns, and upholstery equipment and lift up to 50 lbs.
Have strong attention to detail and a desire to produce not just quantity, but high-quality work
Maintain a clean and organized work area
