About the Role
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Volunteer Programs, the Activity Cart Facilitator serves the public audience and youth volunteers by organizing and maintaining the Huntington’s Activity Cart program in the gardens. Keeps the program running smoothly by supervising high school volunteers, helping to set up and maintain the physical carts, organizing and supplying the cart activities, and assisting with volunteer training and content expansion.
This is a limited term position to cover a leave of absence. Work is scheduled Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am-4:00pm PST.
Essential Functions
Contributes to visitor engagement through providing a combination of engaging, unique activities and clear communication and information.
Leads high school volunteer staff by promoting and facilitating their content knowledge, activity organization, and professional visitor interaction.
Oversees aspects of the Activity Cart program operation, including cart set up, inventory of activity content and supplies, end of day retrieval, and overall maintenance.
Maintains supply inventory log, tracks cart visitation and communicates frequently with youth volunteers and weekly with supervisor.
Works closely and effectively with Volunteers, Security, and Huntington staff.
Other related duties as assigned.
Work weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
Will need a valid CA driver’s license.
Must have high level of integrity and problem-solving attitude.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere required.
Ability to use good judgment, focus attention to detail, and possess organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work under pressure and in a sometimes fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal communication skills required.
Ability to speak other languages in addition to English is helpful.
Availability weekly on both Saturdays and Sundays.
Experience
Previous education or camp-related experience preferable.
Working Conditions
Job requires work outdoors in multiple garden areas as well as within a typical office environment.
Must be able stand for up to 6 hours a day, get around 200-acre site, and lift 25 pounds.
