he Department of History in The College of the Liberal Arts at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a part-time lecturer position.  

The department is currently looking for a historian of Europe, with particular preference for modern France, and popular culture, media, and memory in modern Europe. Required ability to teach French history from 1789 to the present, a general survey of modern Europe, nationalist movements across nineteenth century Europe, WWI, and WWII. Must also be willing to teach Western Civ II and Global History II, and other service courses as needed by the department.  

A Master’s degree in a related field is . * Candidates with Ph.D. degrees in the discipline may also be assigned to teach upper level undergraduate and graduate courses. The anticipated start date for these positions is Fall 2026.

These are one semester, non-tenure track appointments with the possibility of reappointment. Part-time lecturers normally teach one to two courses per semester.  Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2026, and continue until the position is filled.
