Job Description - Alternative Program Coach

The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.

Job Description

The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching Alternative Certification Program Coach. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. This position is currently eligible for telework as applicable and approved by the department. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Meet with candidates in the Alternative Certification Program to provide support throughout the various phases of the program, which may include the Teaching Institute, Internship, and Residency.
  • Conduct a minimum of three formal classroom observations of candidates during the public-school day using the evaluation tool designated by the department.
  • Provide ongoing support to candidates regarding instructional practices, professional responsibilities, and classroom-related concerns.
  • Submit all required course assessments in accordance with program expectations.
  • Enter grades for candidates in the College’s learning management and grading systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current or former Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) certified teacher or administrator.
  • Proficiency with computer technology, including email and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the Part-time Faculty – Non-Credit department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

Pay Range:  $650-$1500 (flat fee)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience serving in a coaching or mentoring role.

For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.

Employees must live in Maryland or a state where the College has payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA).
