CLASSIFICATION:   Part-Time


SALARY :                    D.O.E.

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Archivist will support the Hualapai Department of Cultural Resources in overseeing historical and modern archives for the Department. This position will collect, organize, preserve, and provide access to historically significant records and materials, both physical (documents, photos, maps) and digital, ensuring their long-term availability for future generations through management, cataloging, digital conversion, and public outreach like exhibitions and research assistance. The Archivist will provide support and resources to Department staff, Tribal members, and others as necessary.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


· Coordinates and facilitates archive access requests by staff, Tribal members, and the public, as well as responding to archives information inquiries and requests.


· Responsibility for Department digital and physical archives and archival maintenance, including but not limited to collection, digitalization, proper storage, labeling and descriptions of items, record keeping, housing and re-housing of archive materials, spot checking inventories, identification of needs for archival materials and supplies.


· Manage archival policies and procedures, including staff training as needed.


· Work with Department Director and Archaeologist in preparation of proposals, reports, and other associated documents.


· Provide tours and assist with other Department Programming.


· Maintain discernment and confidentiality with sensitive information and objects.


· Assist with record keeping, taking notes, documenting program statistics.


· Assist with interviews with elders and Tribal members to document language and related cultural histories.


· Other duties as assigned.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


· Highschool diploma or G.E.D.


· Experience with archives management and preservation or equivalent experience strongly preferred.


· Strong organizational skills, particularly with digital and physical records management.


· Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.


· Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite or other similar products.


· Strong communication, interpersonal and professional skills.


· Must be able to sit, stoop, stand for extended periods of time, lift containers and handle fragile items.


· Visual acuity and ability to work at computer for extended period of time.


· Have skills to comfortably and efficiently work both on a team and independently.


· Must be dependable, honest, responsible, and willing to learn.


· Must be careful about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks in a timely manner.


· Must be 18 years or older.


· Must have a valid driver license and be eligible for the tribe’s insurance.


· Must have a valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.


· Submit to and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and random test thereafter.
