The Security Officer position is part of the Hospital Security team and is a contingent role working approximately 24 hours per two-week pay period. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and physicians. The Security Officer provides routine patrol, incident response, and safety monitoring services and includes weekend and holiday responsibility as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required

• Previous hospital security experience or related experience (law enforcement or military service) preferred

• OPOTA Basic Peace Officer Training Certification or IAHSS Basic Security Officer Certification preferred

• Valid Ohio driver’s license with a good driving record required

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and respond effectively in emergency situations

• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills

• Ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff in a healthcare environment

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access

• Inspect doors, windows, and locks to ensure facility security

• Identify and report safety and fire hazards observed during routine patrols

• Investigate incidents and unusual occurrences and complete thorough incident reports

• Ensure only authorized personnel are permitted on hospital premises

• Assist with screening patients, visitors, and staff as appropriate

• Respond to emergency calls involving disorderly conduct or combative individuals

• Maintain accurate activity logs during assigned shifts

• Escort patients, visitors, and employees to and from parking areas as needed

• Comply with all infection control, safety, and hospital security policies and procedures
