Before/After School Care Attendant

Job Summary 

Under the general supervision of the Head of School and the daily supervision of the Principal, the Before/After School Care Attendant will oversee the day-to-day Biblically grounded education and care of children in the before and after-school study hall program. The Before/After School Care Attendant will influence positive, God-honoring student behavior, plan daily activities, and assist students with homework and assignments. The Before/After-School Attendant must have a strong, active, and committed relationship with Jesus Christ, a willingness to lead with a humble heart, a passion for Christian education, and a calling to serve at Cornerstone Christian Academy. He or she will seek to perform all duties as unto the Lord, relying on the Holy Spirit for guidance, and completing all tasks with excellence.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

• Must be 16 years or older


• Working Towards High School Diploma or GED required; Associates Degree preferred

Experience 

• Prior childcare experience preferred

Certifications/Licenses

• First-Aid Certified

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work with children and remain friendly, calm, and patient at all times


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Ability to set rules and guidelines for children to follow


• Solid organizational skills and ability to maintain a tidy and neat classroom

Technologies

• Must be skilled Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Physical Capabilities

• Able to stand and walk; speak and hear clearly; operate a computer, hand-held learning devices, and other office equipment; reach with hands and arms; bend, stoop and twist; and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds


• Able to supervise students both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions


• Able to walk up and down stairs

• Able to recognize the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and prepared to assist them in that task


• Able to manage everyday stress with objectivity and optimism


• Adheres to high ethical standards and exemplifies Christian behavior in attitude, speech, and actions towards others


• Maintains a modest, professional, and clean personal appearance consistent with school policy

Work Hours/Travel

• AM Care- Start time of 7:00 am until start of school day


• PM Care- Start time of 3:15 pm-6:00 pm

Job Functions and Tasks 

Essential Functions – Administrative & Classroom Management

• Work collaboratively with CCA Administration to implement and enforce the school’s disciplinary policies, dress code, and standards of behavior


• Called by the Lord to serve and work with children


• Lead by example to encourage the development of a positive Christian school culture


• Willing and able to share Christ and pray with students


• Create a fun, positive environment that fosters Godly peer relationships


• Assist with homework and activities


• Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a calm learning environment


• Interact with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks


• Demonstrate understanding of how to work with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds


• Maintain emergency preparedness and safety procedures consistent with established protocols


• Represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school’s constituency and the general public


• Treat all students with kindness and respect and continually reinforce their self-worth in Christ while equipping them with knowledge and tools needed to make positive life choices


• Organized and able to track process flow of students entering and exiting the program


• Regularly collaborates with administration and other school personnel to contribute to the positive development of the school environment, learning community, programs and activities


• Operates office equipment, such as computers, printers/copiers, or phone systems, and request repairs or updates when equipment malfunctions
