Job Description - Communication Officer (Part-time)
Lycoming College is hiring a part-time Communications Officer to join the Public Safety team.
Lycoming College, one of the nation’s oldest residential liberal arts and sciences colleges, invites candidates for two full-time openings with the Public Safety team as a Communications Officer.

This position is often the first departmental contact for the Lycoming Community within the Public Safety Office. Fulfilling this role requires Communication Officers to be exceptionally attuned to the needs and experiences of all members of Lycoming’s diverse community and be adept at supporting and enhancing the campus experience of all with whom they work.
This position has a schedule of Friday-Saturday from 11pm-7am. The pay for the position begins at $13.50 per hour and includes retention bonuses of $.50 per hour after six months of active employment and an additional $1.00 per hour after a year of active employment.

What will I do in this role?
Respondpromptly to and properlydocumentcalls for service in accordancewithapplicablepolicies and procedures for functionsincluding, but not limited to:
Alarms (fire, physical plant systems, and other)
Assisting with students, employees,visitors
Emergencies
Communicateeffectively and respectfullywithallmembersof the campuscommunity and visitors.
Accept and return lost and found property according to the established policies and procedures
Complete communication logs
radio/telephone log
vehicle use log
Responsible for distributing keys and returning them to the key cabinet
De-escalatedifficultsituations by remainingcalm,beingempathetic, and maintainingimpulsecontrolto resolve matters while ensuring the exercise of authority respects the rights of individuals and groups, identities and lived experiences.
Assistlocallawenforcement,fire, and otheremergencyserviceagencies in the performanceofdutieswhen requested.
Perform other duties asrequested.

Experience and Qualifications: Skills:
Computerskillsessential(knowledge of Microsoft Word; experienceusingemail and internet)
Excellent customer service and interpersonal/communications skills required to respond to sensitive situations with diplomacy and tact (e.g. listening, verbal/non-verbalskills)
Strong written communication skills to effectively communicate and document requiredreports.
Abilities:
Ability to develop and maintain a workingknowledge of collegepolicies and procedures.
