Custodian

Midway City is seeking to hire a dependable Custodian to work part-time, between 25-30 hours per week, performing a variety of custodial duties in the Midway City facilities. The hourly wage for this role ranges from $20.00 to $23.00, depending on experience.

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the City facilities and rights-of-way. Works under general supervision of the Facility Maintenance Specialist, this role includes performing routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and waste disposal while ensuring compliance with Midway City’s safety and cleanliness standards. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Essential Functions

Year-round duties:
1.     Custodial services as assigned to clean and maintain all City facilities. 

1.    Performs other related duties as required.

Seasonal duties:

1. Performs landscape and gardening duties such as weeding, and trimming.


2. Maintains, and cleans, pavilions, playgrounds, restrooms, picnic tables, barbeques, and other park or cemetery features.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Work with minimum supervision and understand and follow general work instructions.


2. Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.


3. Detail oriented and thorough.


4. Perform outdoor and indoor manual labor for extended periods of time.


5. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.


6. Ability to work effectively with fellow employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Must possess a valid Utah driver's license and be maintained throughout employment. 

Must be at least 18 years old.

Must be able to pass a background check.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Tasks require a variety of physical activities, which may involve muscular strain, walking, standing, stooping, climbing, sitting and reaching, talking, hearing and seeing.
Need to distinguish between shades of color.

Use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity.

Effective communication is essential to job performance.

Work for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail.

Work is occasionally performed outdoors in hot, cold, inclement weather.

Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability and discriminating thinking, common to most job functions.
Possible exposure to stressful situations because of human behavior.
Frequent local travel is required in the normal course of job performance.

Schedule and work location
•    Must be able to work Mondays and Saturdays
•    Midway City Facilities.
