DHP Mentors

For the academic year 2025/26 ADHT is seeking 14 graduates across The New School , to mentor 14 DHP undergraduates who are in their senior year and complete their capstone project in May 2026. The mentoring comprises student peer mentoring and student career mentoring. The principal tasks of the mentor are:

• to connect mentees with work across ADHT, Parsons and The New School, providing support and guidance that helps students remain engaged with the communal life at the university while they focus on their individual capstones;

• to work with mentees on research methods, creative approaches and original applications m(communication, display, publication, etc.) for their projects;

• to work with ADHT-faculty in joint critiques and discuss teaching and learning outcomes, thereby developing their own knowledge of pedagogy;

• to discuss with mentees local and international networks, communities and job markets and, wherever possible, explore contacts and connections;

• to work with faculty on providing targeted academic and career advice to mentees, for them to learn about potential career paths and build career networking skills.

Graduates are expected to be in excellent academic standing and ready to explore tutoring and teaching assistance as part of their academic and professional development. They have access to diverse networks in New York City, the US and abroad, and can talk to their undergraduate peers about their experience with applying their studies to work in the creative industries, academia and other professional fori. 

Work Mode: Hybrid/Split

Availability: Office Hours are subject to change

Rate: $20 per hour

Responsibilities:

Attend introductory meeting to discuss DHP program's major and goals of mentoring program discussed; mentor's areas of interest and expertise identified (This process took place in the interviews, which the DHP students are attending as well). Attend one DHP Thesis Capstone class session, Thursdays 12:10-2:50 pm (3 hours).Lead one-on-one mentoring sessions with individual DHP students to help them develop the identified area of need skills outside of designated class time (6-9 hours). Support students in developing their presentation skills in preparation for the thesis symposium. Mentors attend exhibition opening and one day symposium/gallery talk (3 hours).
