JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

This position specializes in promoting MCC's Digital Express by creating and maintaining partnerships with agencies that work with different age groups ranging from K-12 to Senior Adults. The Specialist builds relationships with business entities, community organizations and schools to create a partnership bridge to Digital Express resources: computer technology, Digital Library, educational programming, Reboot Central device repair shop, Creative Zone equipment, gaming devices & robotics, and available study rooms & meeting spaces.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

Older Adult Populations.

• Develops training topics that are geared for a wide range of ages to include, but not limited to: online safety and how to protect yourself from identity theft and fraud, understanding tech devices (i.e., smart phone, iPad, etc.), surviving the online form migration, how to make technology work for you during retirement, Zoom, MS Teams, Internet searches, and navigating social media.
• Promotes Digital Express technology and resources throughout Omaha and surrounding areas.
• Collaborates with Library Supervisor to coordinate Digital Express site tours to the public.
• Creates hand-outs and Digital Express resources information packets to be used as outreach materials.
• Displays outreach materials within the Digital Express and distributes to MCC locations and throughout the community to drive participation in on-campus programming.
• Maintains data as directed to by supervisor.
• Promotes Digital Express to faculty, staff and students by participating in special events and giving presentations.

K-12 Populations.

• Develops and facilitates presentations in area schools to promote the Digital Express.
• Works with schools to determine a plan for in-person visits to utilize Digital Express resources (i.e., 3-D Printer, Cricut machines, mini-robotics, electronic games, and other youth activities).
• Works with Omaha K-12 School partners to advertise programming available at Digital Express.
• Attends school events to drive K-12 population engagement within the Digital Express space.
• Promotes youth programming at Digital Express for students and families to participate during instructional breaks and/or over summer months.
• Maintains data as directed to by supervisor.
• Promotes Digital Express to faculty, staff and students by participating in special events and giving presentations.
• Attend work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows software and skill in operating a personal computer. Previous knowledge of utilizing programs/software to record videos helpful.
• Skill in interpersonal communications and developing partnerships.
• Skill in organization, time management and prioritization.
• Ability to use active listening skills to answer questions and problem solve, and converse on the telephone and in person with employees, vendors and students.
• Ability to write and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.

• Prolonged periods standing or sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of related experience.
• Experience working with adult learners and/or with a diverse population of learners preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience considered.
• Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or staffing coverage.
• Must pass background check.
