Job Description - Family Program Prevention Specialist

Exciting News!!! Now through December 2024, Child and Family Focus is offering a $250 sign on bonus* to be paid following 6 months of successful employment!

*Bonus amounts could be prorated based on number of hours worked

Position Summary:

Child & Family Focus, Inc. is seeking a part time (20 to 25 hours per week) Family Program Prevention Specialists to coordinate and implement alcohol, tobacco, and other drug (ATOD) prevention programs for families, caregivers and youth in Bucks and Montgomery Counties.  Working under the guidance of the program supervisor, the Family Program Prevention Specialist will coordinate all components of, and assist in facilitating, youth and family prevention programs outlined in our contract with the Bucks and Montgomery County SCA and agreements with other funders.  Because the majority of prevention programs take place in the evenings, the Family Program Prevention Specialist must be available to work two evenings per week.

Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in public health, human services or related field
  • Two or more years of experience working with children and families
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fluency in the Spanish language  
  • One or more years of experience facilitating groups with youth and families
  • Efficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Microsoft Forms, Survey Monkey, and Canva
  • One or more years of experience working in school systems
  • Familiarity with Bucks and Montgomery County region and resources

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a strengths-based culture of service delivery tailored to the needs of the Bucks and Montgomery County communities.
  • Conduct outreach and marketing efforts to secure host-sites and recruit participants for evidence-based prevention programs including but not limited to: Strengthening Families Program 10-14, Strong African American Families, Familias Fuertes, Alcohol Literacy Challenge, LifeSkills Parents, Botvin LifeSkills Training for youth and parents.
  • Coordinate scheduling, staffing, preparation for and implementation of evidence-based alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention programs.
  • Assist in facilitating a minimum of ten evidence-based family programs per year.
  • Maintain fidelity according to evidence-based program developers standards.
  • Collaborate with CFF’s Communication and Engagement Coordinator to carry out social and print media campaigns.
  • Meet productivity goals to meet deliverables identified through contracts with funders.
  • Keep records required for documentation of direct services and program expenditures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with funders and community stakeholders.
  • Participate regularly in community coalitions and committees.
  • Attend health fairs and participate in other information dissemination efforts throughout the community.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, coworkers, funders and other stakeholders.
  • Attend required to maintain compliance with DDAP regulations and to obtain/maintain certification to deliver selected evidenced based programming.
  • Use and implement the 5 core values of Trauma-Informed Care in all work practices - Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, & Empowerment.

Work Environment:

  • Work in standard office environment as well as community settings to include schools, homeless shelters, detention centers, faith-based establishments, community centers, indoor and outdoor community resource fairs, and buildings maintained by other child and family serving organizations.
  • Availability to facilitate programming for families or other related events two evenings per week.
  • Availability to attend prevention education programming, health fairs or other marketing/outreach events on up to 15 weekend days as needed throughout the year.
  • Substantial local travel in your own vehicle as necessary to perform responsibilities listed below.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly of range of $20.19 to $21.15
  • Ability to earn an additional $4,000 per year through quarterly bonus structure tied to program deliverables
