Position Summary:

As a Part-Time Fleet Maintenance Coordinator, you will ensure the City’s vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for service. You’ll handle a mix of hands-on light mechanical work, administrative tracking, and vendor coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

While the City contracts out major mechanical work, you serve as the primary liaison between City departments and service providers to ensure the fleet stays on the road.

• Service Scheduling: Act as the main point of contact for scheduling routine inspections and preventative maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, fluid services) with external vendors.


• Vendor Management: Coordinate with shops and contractors for major repairs, ensuring work is completed timely and to City standards.


• Initial Diagnostics: Respond to vehicle complaints and perform basic troubleshooting to determine if a vehicle needs to be sent out for professional repair.


• Minor Adjustments: Perform simple, "quick-fix" tasks in-house (e.g., checking levels or minor bulbs) to maintain immediate fleet availability.

• Quality Control & Tracking: Review completed vendor work orders to ensure all requested maintenance was performed correctly and document all services and parts in the asset management system to maintain accurate fleet records.


• Maintain accurate records for licensing, registration, and insurance.

Organizational Relationships:

Reports to: Facilities and Fleet Manager

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and repair tools.


• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with city staff and vendors.

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Valid Colorado Driver's License (Class R) and a good driving history required.


• 2+ years of fleet maintenance experience or substantially equivalent positions with other public agencies or private contractors.

• Must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and driving record check prior to commencing employment.


• Must be able to obtain CJIS Certification.

Equipment Used, Work Environment and Physical Activities (This is a general list and may not apply to all positions):

• Driving: Must be physically capable of operating motor vehicles safely in the normal course of assignments.

• Office equipment: Daily use of a copier, scanner, and printer.

• Computer equipment: Daily use of a personal computer and MS Office software.

• Other equipment: Periodic use of large format printers and copiers.

• Reasoning ability: Defines problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draws valid conclusions using a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands: Sits for long periods of time; may walk, stand, bend, stoop, reach, climb, carry and lift for varying periods. Requires continuous and repetitive arm-hand-eye movement.

• Lifting: May involve lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. for short periods of time.

• Vision and hearing: Must have visual acuity to see and read paper and electronic documents; must be able to answer telephones, communicate conversation and respond to verbal inquiries.

Exposure to environmental conditions:

Ability to drive to and physically access all work sites in the office and outdoors to perform duties, potentially in any weather and environmental conditions, including possible exposure to extreme weather conditions, dust, dirt, heat, cold, fumes, gases, odors, noise, water elements, and humidity.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a non-exempt part-time position, working an average 20 hours per week. This position schedule will be Monday – Friday.

Position Range:

$25.34 - $36.45 Hourly
