Job Description - Food Service Assistant

Entity: Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital | Department: Cafeteria | Work Hours: evening | Weekend Requirements: Every Other | 0.0 FTE

Job Summary

Assists in the preparation and serving of food for distribution to patients, cafeteria, and catering services.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains area, equipment, and supplies in safe and orderly manner.

  • Cleans and inspects dietary equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.

  • Apportions and serves food to patients, staff, and visitors.

  • Assists cook and other dietary staff as needed.

  • Adheres to all applicable guidelines regarding the storage, handling and preparation of food, as well as the sanitation and maintenance of work area.

Skills and Attributes

  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.

  • Works under minimal supervision.

  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Education

High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred      

Licensure/Certification/Registration

Food Safety Training required within 90 days of employment in this position
